How do I order social media posts?
Which social networks can you write for?
Prose clients typically request posts for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and/or Google+. Indicate your social network(s) choices on the content order, and we will provide posts specifically crafted for those platforms. For other social networks, please inquire.
Because our specialty is writing, not photography or graphic design, our social media service does not extend to image-based social networks such as Pinterest or Instagram.
In what format will the social media posts be delivered?
When your social media posts are ready, you will be emailed a link to view and/or edit them on our platform, in a standard text editor. You can also download them as a Word doc.
After viewing or downloading your latest batch of posts, you can choose the ones you want to post, then copy/paste them to your chosen social network(s) or social media distribution platform (e.g., HootSuite).
Can I receive social media posts on a regular basis?
Yes. We offer two ordering options: A one-time order (e.g., a single batch of 50 updates) and a recurring order (e.g., 50 updates per week). If you opt for a recurring plan, you will receive a new batch of posts on a weekly basis.
If social media posts are delivered weekly, won't they be outdated by the time they're posted?
For most practical social media purposes, no. Our arrangement is not meant to serve major media outlets that deliver “breaking news.” But for the vast majority of brands, weekly batches of relevant posts are a welcome, workable solution.
Even if you’re sharing a recent industry article or discussing a new trend, posts are rarely same-day sensitive. Online discussions tend to percolate over days and weeks, as events unfold and/or new experts enter the conversation.
In addition to writing about current topics and trends, our writers also focus on high-interest “evergreen” topics. And we’re more than happy to provide you with posts that anticipate specific time-sensitive posting needs. Just let us know in advance if you need updates that coincide with an event or holiday, for example.
Brands that occasionally need to post same-day news typically use Prose to supplement their own updates. Relying on Prose for a consistent “foundation” can dramatically reduce the social media burden.
Can Prose help us manage our social media accounts, or do you only write the updates?
At Prose, our core service covers writing only.
That said, depending on your needs, it may be possible for our in-house staff to assist you in managing your account on a retainer basis. Please contact us to discuss options.
What will our social media posts be about? How will Prose know what to write?
Social media content varies greatly. While some posts may be about your business, such as links to new product landing pages or blog posts, the majority of updates typically consist of news and insights relevant to your customers. In keeping with the best practices of content marketing, the goal is not to advertise but to inform, entertain, and educate in order to make a genuine connection with your audience.
Prose invests time in research before we write. We track numerous publications, blogs, and social media accounts in your industry/sub-industry to ensure that we are always sharing or commenting on the latest news.
Each social network has a different format for writing posts. Do you take these differences into account?
Prose is aware of the stylistic requirements of each social network. On the order form, just tell us the specific network(s) you want us to write for (i.e., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and/or Google+), and we will tailor your posts accordingly.
Twitter is the platform with the most unique language requirements. Tweets are brief (under 140 characters) and may contain special conventions like hashtags (#) and mentions (@).
How do you ensure that social media posts are written in our voice?
As a leading ghostwriting service, our job is to capture authenticity. You can count on Prose to write in the distinctive style, tone, and voice of your brand.
In the initial content brief, you have an opportunity to specify the style of your updates. We also spend time reviewing your online properties — your website, social media accounts, and blog posts — along with any supplementary materials you provide. We absorb what you're all about, what you offer, who you're targeting, and the unique personality of your brand. And everything we write for you reflects that inside knowledge.
In addition to writing status updates in the voice of your brand (e.g., friendly, funny, wise) and the voice of your target audience (e.g., millennials, seniors, men or women), we also write in the voice of the medium. We consider the optimal style for each social media platform, from brief, breezy Twitter updates to longer, more personable Facebook posts.
What makes Prose Media's approach to social media unique?
Social media is easy to do, but a challenge to do well. The web is full of self-declared “social media experts,” but few truly are. Even the so-called experts often know only about the logistics of social media (i.e., clicking buttons or navigating platforms). If that were enough, the average teenager is already a social media expert.
In our view, high-quality writing is the most important element of a successful social media campaign. We approach it from that standpoint. Our expert writers are well versed in the best practices of every social network platform you use — and uniquely qualified to research and craft thoughtful, relevant updates in your brand's distinctive voice.
Prose has the corporate communications expertise to approach your target audience from a strategic understanding. Our posts resonate. Instead of boosting your follower count with random users, our goal is cultivating a community of avid fans.
We are happy to provide social media writing exclusively, although most clients who hire Prose for this service also rely on us for other content marketing activities. They find that our services dovetail in a way that ensures quality content and brand consistency across all media.
Does social media work for B2B companies?
The answer is an emphatic yes! Many, if not most, of our social media clients are B2B companies.
Naturally, goals differ. B2B social media can create buzz and help build a loyal customer base. Primary goals revolve around boosting exposure, providing quick access to relevant information, increasing traffic, and offering marketplace insight.
A strong social media presence is important for brand awareness. Social media platforms also facilitate communication with important connections, clients, and leads. Social media is no longer an optional business strategy — it has become an imperative.
Does Prose include (or design) images?
No. Our core expertise is well-written content, and all social media posts are delivered as plain text. Keep in mind that Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+ will auto-populate your updates with images from links referenced in your post — so you don’t have to.
When we post the updates Prose writes, will we get more followers?
Our talented writers are committed to writing posts that attract followers and build an active fan base. But no credible social media service can offer guarantees. Growth via content marketing takes time — and quality trumps quantity. Cheap tactics — such as “buying” fans — can promise an instantaneous boost in follower count. More savvy social media users always see through such tactics.
Instead of going for spam-bot quantity, Prose focuses on carefully crafted updates that cultivate meaningful followers. These are genuine fans of your brand who can become sales prospects and advocates, producing real business results. Social media is a marathon, not a sprint — but we believe the effort is well worth the time.
